Back with a Vengeance - Chokers!

As 2018 comes to a close, and the new year is on the horizon, it is the perfect time to go through your closet and decide what items will make the cut for 2019.

Are you all for the choker craze?

“Before you make your final decisions on what pieces you’ll treasure versus what should be retired, find out what I discovered from some of the greatest experts in the industry.”

Major retailers such as Barneys New York, Bergdorf and others, have said their piece and shared their fashion forecast for what will sizzle in the new year. Get ready 2019, chokers are back they they are here to stay. It comes to no surprise that 1990’s trends are currently the talk of the town and people are flaunting these flashback looks on the daily. When it comes to neck glam, chokers come in many shapes and sizes. Options range from a thin strap or much thicker straps. Some have designs, or are made with various fabrics, typically lace. 90’s grunge inspired versions are awesome, and usually thicker than the common size, they do not entail embellishments or dangling pendants. The choker was one of the hottest jewelry items for 2017 and remains a “must have” throughout 2018. With the numerous bloggers, celebrities and girls next door wearing one, they are almost unavoidable and we are all thankful for that.

What I personally adore about this piece is that it can be worn with various outfits. Bring the ensemble together with either a crop top, tank top, bustier top, dress, or even sophisticated business attire. Just imagine yourself wearing a lace or leather black choker combined with another thin necklace - a very ladylike version. These stunning neck accessories highlight your face, and instantly draw attention to your stunning facial features.

The meaning behind the choker

Choker tip #1: Less earring bling compliments the choker A top tip to follow when it comes to chokers is to keep your earrings on the smaller and less sparkly side. Large earrings or chandelier earrings will take away from your neckwear. As your neck is an extension of your face, really large, attention drawing earrings are likely to touch a choker necklace. Avoid going overkill, or having too many distractions by selecting daintier, more delicate earrings if you choose to wear earrings at all.

Choker tip #2: Keep your neck in mind When deciding you want to rock your favorite choker, you’ll need to keep in mind of what outfit to wear, to bring your entire look together. A crew neck line in a matching color is a discreet way to pair your choker to your outfit. Another great option is an off the shoulder shirt to not only highlight that lovely neck but your shoulders as well. An obvious example of this is a black velvet choker with a simple black t-shirt. By combining these two items you give off the impressions that your choker is an extensions to your top, which understates the ensemble, overall and keeps it edgy, yet simple.

Choker tip #3: Layers upon layers

Layering lots of simple thin chokers is a great way to elevate any outfit. Select a simple metal along with an accent color to make a detailed and well thought-out style. Most designers advise wearing thinner chokers to layer when you’re trying to apply the layered effect. Add a little punch to switch up your day time wear to night, by including a bright red choker or navy blue to your layered choker necklaces. To achieve an avant-garde type look, add a lariat necklace with your choker. In case you don’t know what a lariat necklace looks like, you tie a knot with the jewelry itself and it is clasp-less. Options are endless when it comes to matching a lariat with a choker. You can tie a tighter knot with a longer chain, and for a sleeker, maybe more formal look you can keep the longer part of the necklace trail down your back. Can't go wrong with classic black.

Welcome to my world...

The past couple of years have been full of adventures, from becoming a lover of soy candle making, to scuba diving in the Red Sea, to exploring new exotic international lands, to getting married to my best friend and owning my sweetheart Shih-poo puppy.

All this has made me a better version of myself with so much more to share, and thats what this space is for.

Let the posts
