I must say, I’ve had a mild obsession with anything faux fur this season; faux fur vests, and oversized jackets.

Are you part of the faux fur fan club?

“This timeless piece of outwear used to be a staple for men, but MOVE OUT OF THE WAY BOYS … ladies are “boss babe-ing” this piece out of control.”

I came across a hot little number while skimming through Poshmark (a dangerously good source). I discovered a dark blue faux fur bomber jacket. This jacket had a special charm to it, it reminded me of the cookie monster and I purchased it within 30 seconds! Nothing could hold me back from this navy blue bomber jacket and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. In case you’re not familiar with this design of coat, it is a short jacket that is tightly fit at the waist and typically has a zip up the front. This timeless piece of outwear used to be a staple for men, but MOVE OUT OF THE WAY BOYS … ladies are “boss babe-ing” this piece out of control and styling it in ways you’d never imagine, to create their own individual style and express themselves. This classic jacket is so fashionable and versatile.

Spice it up during the winter season

This winter I did a great deal of travel, whether it be for vacation or work. Most locations landed in places with temperatures WAY BELOW my comfort zone. I instantly knew this was the ideal opportunity to stroll around town in my brand new (as I liked to call it) “Cookie Monster” coat! I brought this blue baby with me to Palm Springs (during the winter when the mountains are snowing… it is FREEZING), San Francisco (several times), and the beloved “bean town” Boston (20 degree Fahrenheit). Throughout my winter travels, this jacket kept me snug as a bug, in a rug, and I received constant compliments on my style. I can only thank the Cookie Monster cover from keeping me warm and looking stylish while surviving the harsh, piercing winds, the icy snow and pouring rain.

The brilliance of this jacket doesn’t end there, the bomber jacket is not only a piece to strut during the day while simultaneously winning the battle of the winds, but it is the absolute sexiest item to incorporate with your going-out ensemble. The pairing of faux fur vests with pleather or leather black pants is one of the hottest matches for chilly months in 2019. I figured why not use this manmade fur bomber jacket with similar shoes, creating a similar look but with a major edge. The one night I went out in Boston with a friend, I knew it would be close to zero degrees outside and was hesitant on this sassy look, that I envisioned in my mind. However, I combined the bomber jacket with a black crop top, high-waisted pleather pants, and booties. Surprisingly, I felt HOT (in both senses of the word… haha!) I strongly recommend this item for a day to night look! Girl, you got this in the bag!

Some snazzy styles of the bomber jacket and how to stand out like never before

Surprisingly, I felt HOT (in both senses of the word… haha!) I strongly recommend this item for a day to night look! Girl, you got this in the bag! .

(1) Staying up to speed: Some trends may run out of fuel after a few seasons, however, designers continue to bring back the bomber jacket for its practical appeal and comfort. This has been taking place years after the reintroduction to the masses. Designers consider this item the most versatile outerwear style, which is another reason why it has stood the test of time. One of the most influential and modern designers of the classic bomber jacket is Kim Jones. Louis Vuitton has not been shy about shedding some love on the traditional item and making it his own. Propelling the bomber into the limelight, showcasing various colors and designs, from orange silk versions for spring and summer to metallic and nylon styles for autumn and winter, loud is in this year! Vibrant colors and unique materials to really shine and most designers have joined the bomber jacket club by incorporating middle eastern looking prints, or novel designs.

(2) Keep it classic: The original bomber jacket was an A-1, which was the first mass-produced flight jacket to be issued to the US Army during the 1920’s. Early pieces created from tough sheep leather and lined with cotton, was the first model, and was worn for years. A knitted collar, cuffs and waistband were also integral to the jacket’s flyboy cool, as were the two large flap pockets at the hip. The proportions of the bomber jacket shift subtly from season to season according to trends. A classically shaped bomber in a timeless fabric is always going to last. You can never go wrong with a stylish piece such as this one. The nostalgic feel in itself, will give you a unique and swanky look. (3) Don't be boring: This type of jacket inevitably is a statement piece, but it is up to you and how you want to flaunt it. Whether you opt for an embroidered souvenir jacket or go oversized, just remember to keep the rest of your outfit simple and chic to avoid too much busyness going on.

Alright lovelies, go out and get your bomber jacket today! Send me photos of how you chose to style it!

XO

Jasmine
