I am an absolute sucker when it comes to holidays and New Year’s is no exception! The New Year is the start of new beginnings, this is the point in time when we set resolutions for ourselves and decide on how we can better ourselves, and to perceive stronger than ever moving forward.

I hope you all have either lovely, extravagant plans you’ve been looking forward to or a relaxing night in with your loved ones, whatever is on your itinerary I am wishing you the best and hope it is an unforgettable evening. My new year plans were right up my alley. I was thrilled to join some close friends in the absolutely gorgeous and cultural city of San Francisco to attend an event in the downtown area and celebrate in style. Later on, I will be sharing my personal favorite selections for this upcoming and joyous holiday. Let’s celebrate in style with sequins and champs! Ring in 2019 looking and feeling your absolute best. Perhaps, you may know exactly how you want to dress on New Year’s Eve. Maybe you are dead set on your go-to dress-and-heels combo, or maybe it’s a more toned-down look consisting of jeans and your favorite shimmering blouse. While anything you wear will undoubtedly work, if you’re striving to impress, stick to a several specific style rules which will get you to stand out from the crowd in the best way possible. Because come on… who wants to look like everyone else on the start of this fresh new year!?

(1) Forget fit, not: that “fabric that fits formula” is one I always abide by. Basic fabrics should be tightly fitted to your silhouette, this creates that Breakfast at Tiffany’s - Audrey Hepburn stunning and elegant look. When risk-taking with your style, the louder and wilder fabrics appear nicer when draped on the body, creating a loser fit and flow.
(2) Shine bright like a diamond: During this festive day, the likelihood is slim that you won’t catch several gals covered in shimmer, shine and sparkle from head to toe, and honey… nothing is wrong with that! I salute you if you do! SLAY ALL DAY! Starting off your year with color, shine and gems will only bring you happiness and cheer while diving into the new year! There are no rules or limitations when it comes to bling-bling on this special occasion. You do you, boo!
(3) That statement piece, though: If seeking much attention with hard to miss shine and color is not your forte or where your interest lies, try one statement item that blows peoples mind, a nice style juxtaposition is picking one standout part of your outfit. Consider possibly chandelier and gemmed earrings, or a long chained necklace with layers and gems, while wearing it with a plain black tuxedo blazer and dark skinny jeans. You will look ladylike, elegant, sharp and still bring in that New Year’s feel with your one shining piece that you’ll be bound to gain endless compliments on. You can still stay true to your real style and remain in your comfort zone, but bring it home with just a little touch of what 2019 will be for you.
(4) Sequins and champagne go hand and hand: Get that “wow” factor holding your champagne glass high in the air with your outstanding glamorous sequin dress. Whether you opt for a subtler twofer (possibly a delicate blouse and skirt combo), or that common new year’s fully glittered number… trust – it will be easy to accessories and glam up, if that is the look you are going for this upcoming year. To ensure you still are rocking a sexy yet stylish look and not going TOO overboard, incorporate very simple earrings, or a light and delicate necklace along with a smaller, neutral colored clutch. There’s no need to outdo your already-stunning sparkles. You’ll be the belle of the ball as the clock strikes 12!
(5) First place prize in gold: NYE is the night not to apologize for going big and shining bright! You can never go wrong with too much gold on this unforgettable night. The ideal out-on-the-town color pairing to this yellow-toned metal is classic black! A black dress as your base is always appreciated, give it a go with a little twinkle of gold-foil designs or details. Another route could be traditional black slacks combined with an eye-catching, slinky gold blouse, maybe even switch up the order by strutting an unbelievable metallic gold skirt as your statement piece with a flowing black crop top or thin dark turtle neck. Never forget your feet! A strong pair of heels will tie your whole outfit together, and you’ll be ready to dance the night away.
If you’ll be attending a fancier soiree definitely go big and bold in bright tones! You can bet that most ladies will be using their safe choice of their favorite LBD to wear, you know in advance that this is your chance to let your inner personality shine through your wardrobe decision making this year. As seen in my featured photos, I selected one of my absolute favorite Scala cocktail dressed, completely bedazzled in golden beading from shoulder to knee. Golden gemmed embroidering in the bust and waist region, this cocktail dress is surprisingly comfortable sparkles throughout the night. To let my dress, speak for itself, I paired it with Macy’s gold hoops and basic nude pumps. Other ways to stick out and go beyond the traditional diamonds and gold would be to let your individuality shine with vibrant colors and unique fabrics. Colors like fuchsia, chartreuse or cyan (because you can!) or you can always opt for a regal royal emerald color or a classic deep burgundy. No matter what you end up choosing as your main ensemble, keep your shoes simple. Stay away from patterns or eye-popping colors, stick to basic nudes, whites, or blacks. Stay prepared by accompanying your unbelievable start of 2019 outfit with a chic outerwear jacket or shall for you to take from the cab to curb during this cold and windy night.
