Now that days are shorter and mornings are colder, we all know we are in the heart of winter.

During this season, depending on where you live in the world, it can be tough to keep up with Mother Nature’s mood swings, but we do know you need to be prepared to stay snug and warm. Now is the ideal time to vamp up your wardrobes with some stellar, new outwear. Your coat of choice says so much about how you feel and how you face this frosty season. My personal favorite, is keeping is chic and classy with a smart trench coat. What is so fantastic about this classic jacket is that there are so many different styles, colors and patterns that they come in.

Mix and match

“Do you have a design in mind for your blog? Whether you prefer a trendy postcard look or you’re going for a more editorial style blog - there’s a stunning layout for everyone.”

You can find the most impressive designs from high-end fashion designers, or more simplistic and affordable choices at your nearby Forever 21 or H&M. Trench coats truly are the perfect transitional coat! They are so easy to wear, so comfortable, and pair well with anything that you currently own and have in your closet. This coat is not a strict seasonal jacket, you can rock it throughout most of the year for various occasions and it can be worn with ease during the workday, exploring new cities and for an evening get together. Plus, trench coats are infinitely versatile, looking just as good with sneakers as they do with your work heels. Depending on if you prefer a classic camel style or a style that feels a bit more modern and updated, winter 2018 trench coats from designers internationally have given you options for days, for your transitional dressing pleasure.

A staple piece to so many outfits

Locking down the perfect trench may be a tricky task, and can be time consuming. The trench coat has been noted as a major staple item from decades ago to present, and is without a doubt is a statement piece all women should own. Luckily, I’ve done my best to make you choosing your perfect trench by filtering through the latest trends with roundups of the absolute top-notch coats to protect you from the parky weather. The origin of trench coats goes far beyond fashion trends. They were originally used in Great Britain for the purpose of staying dry from the rain, and keeping clean from mud during the World War I era around 1914. Burberry was the first designer to create and embrace the new blueprint of jackets, the trench coat!

Check out my top 3 choices when it comes to 2018 winter trench coats

Be original, show off your style, and tell your story.”

(1) Heritage trench coat with detachable liner: This style is perfectly paired with jeans and any variation of boots, booties or just some simple flats. This particular design of trench coat is one I travel with often because it's a sensible option, and so chic! The heritage trench is great for layering… and did I say chic? It is ridiculously lightweight and packable, ideal for any suitcase and voyage you may be taking. Depending on where your next adventure takes you, you can rest at ease, for it doubles quite well as a raincoat. If you don’t already have one, now is the time!

(2) Double-breasted trench raincoat: Traditionally, trench coats have been double-breasted. Extremely beneficial to the style of a pea coat, we typically aren't the largest fans of the double-breasted style in other categories. Many women feel it adds width to the body and can be too busy overall. When going for the double breasted jacket, make sure to keep all details as simple as possible including buttons. Having smaller buttons on the jacket and basic lining, cuffs and sash will enhance the femininity of the jacket. As seen in my featured photos, I adore the double breasted look, and love wearing it in cool settings. When the sunshine is peaking through the trees, you can casually wear it open without fully buttoning up, and you’ll give off an impressive vision to those that cross your path.

(3) The classic trench coat with tie cuffs: That classic style is often in khaki or beige, though the tone can differ. The classic model often has a buckled belt at the waistline. Traditional materials used for this design are often water-resistant cotton, or leather. Length can range anywhere from knee to ankle height, whatever you feel best in! Burberry was the first to implement the “epaulettes” on this style of jacket, so you can’t go wrong with tradition. The straps located up high at the shoulders tell the world you’re sassy and you know it!

Get Inspired

Trench coats will stay in style for many years to come and are ranked highly as one of the current hottest trends, and we just can't get enough of them! Practical AND chic … which other design of coat will keep you dry from your head, down to your knees, while also looking like some sort of ultra-chic, inscrutable detective?

Oh yes! I guarantee you'll be pulling off your trench for years to come and loving it more and more as time goes by.
